Spanish as a second language is growing very fast, too. All over the world people are becoming aware of its commercial importance, the excitement of travelling in the Spanish speaking world and the tremendous richness of the culture it conveys.

There are many reasons why it is not a difficult language to learn:

• The pronunciation is straightforward.
• The spelling and grammar are logical.
• There is a wealth of useful resources available.

In most Spanish speaking countries people are patient and courteous with foreigners who are trying to make themselves understood. So, you will be able to make full use of what you have learnt and get plenty of help.

At school, at work, at play, in our relationships with others, whatever we are doing, our ability to use language clearly and effectively is crucial. In every sphere of activity we are at the mercy of those who are more articulate than we are. That is why certificated English skills are a requirement in so many fields of activity. At every level in the education system and in almost every sphere of professional activity our linguistic skills have a bearing on our success.

Education Matters can help you get what you want out of the education system as it stands. Many people come to me because they are dissatisfied with an aspect of the education their child is receiving at school. Extra tuition is not always the answer. Sometimes approaching the school or Local Education Authority in the right way will resolve the problem or conflict.

In the most extreme cases a change of school is the only solution. Some young people who are unhappy or under performing in a highly selective school achieve results in a Comprehensive or College of Further Education which their previous Grammar or Public School would have been proud of.

When people feel comfortable they do better. Sometimes it is a question of helping students, of whatever age, to build confidence in a more general way and to realise their own strength and capability. Every student is different. There are no universal solutions. However, I can help you develop a more satisfactory and successful relationship with your own learning processes and the educational establishments you work with.
